who cares about some program in sweden? we’re in america. socialists here have shown time and time again to be anti housing unless its 100% affordable or whatever unrealistic bs. Mamdani has in multiple instances been anti-housing. Idk why a development forum like this is so excited for him.
In Chicago, look at how the city was booming when a pro business moderate like Rahm was in office. Two progressive mayors later, development has left that city

With the city’s newfound autonomy, the SDAPÖ undertook large construction efforts to provide public housing provisions for the city.
Vienna today maintains some of the largest quantity of social housing and subsidised housing stock of any European city, in addition to having some of Europe’s lowest median rents. Around 80% of Vienna either socially or privately rents, with an approximately even split between the two.

This, IMO.
I have good confidence we are at the cusp of a big boom, development wise.Through the rezonings and City of Yes, the Manhattan Plan and others throughout the last month/year… the flower bed is fertilized and the apetite for pro-housing is up there. There is a syngergy occuring with NJ as well in the housing equation. The urge is there to build and it seems like we have a very pro-boom administration in the works.
Way I look at it, when we have the side that won quote Tokyo… that’s how you know they understand that we need to step up the game! 
I’m excited to see the change in areas not Manhattan, that’s where most of the change needs to happen. Even in Staten Island. The OneLIC plan has a ton of potential and also along rail lines (Jamaica Queens as an example).
I suspect we will see a Bloomberg style boom, with the drive to get it done and the conditions that make it right for the private sector and also a push amongst the public. Get the plans out… approve the bids quick… shovels in the ground quick!

In that video, the Port Authority said that 2/3rds of revenues come from non-tolls/non-fares. Where does that 2/3rds come from then?

Political grandstanding is tiresome. If anyone is so politically inclined to move and they can’t go to Texas they’ll go to California (and probably starve with their housing prices) or Florida (DeSantis will be gone soon)
I doubt Mamdami’s term will be worse than DeBlasio. We’ll see.
