Big moment for Queens when it surpasses Citi. It’s held the title of tallest in the borough since 1990. The Citi Building was also the tallest outside of Manhattan for the rest of NY I think until this year.

I hope they revisit the FAA limit for the area, possibly petition or request an appeal with further studies. LIC deserves a super tall in time due. The demand is very strong, hence why a lot of future parcels are being snatched up. A lot of the existing stock has been absorbed, and more housing is needed. If a LIC super tall that was residential was to pop up, with a nice affordable unit aspect to it, it would do very, very well.

Either the height or increase the allotted units per zoning. LIC is on fire right now. Even after the Amazon debacle, demand is still very strong for this neighborhood.

Im all for it, but LIC needs more infrastructure and connections to Manhattan to support growth. 7 line will be a mess when all these new buildings are fully occupied.

I agree 100%. I’m all for developing Sunnyside Yards and increases to height limits, but western Queens needs another connection to Manhattan, one that also connects to LGA. Best would be a line that goes from LGA west along Grand Central Parkway and Astoria Blvd and then across Manhattan along 86th or 96th Street to end at Broadway.

Ofc this could be easily done with cut-and-cover or an elevated train …

But instead they would only ever do a second ave style tunnel dig that would cost 100 billion per mile
