Affordable housing for the city:
The first thing I would do is start construction on the property at 418 11th. Avenue. At the same time, I would issue an RFP for the property between the Western Yards and the Javits Centre.
To the Western Yards, an excavation to build the platform above the tracks. Then start building the 40 Hudson Yards and later continue with the construction of residential towers (without the casino). In the hope that Midtown West will be almost complete in 10 years. Would my plan be realistic or not?
Would it also be conceivable to focus on residential space instead of office space on the ESC/Penn District site? But in my opinion this would not be the best solution as Penn Station is nearby.
What would be your opinion on this topic?

Are there more pictures of this lighting or (light art) at the IBM Building in Chicago from 1989?
Chicago in the building boom of the 1980s, which lasted until 1992.

If Foster had been just a few minutes later to the competition, SOM would have won. At the time, Foster’s designs were delivered to Frankfurt with extreme haste.

Fundamentally they are still cranes, but no, derrick cranes are still different than the typical luffing and tower cranes used today.
Jumping/luffing cranes hydraulically lift themselves up, essentially “jumping” then locking themselve back in place.
The old derrick cranes in your photos are sliding themselves up every 3 or so floors and the track is moved as the building rises. Jumping cranes dont have tracks they slide on, their bases either jump and the crane moves up or the crane elevates itself by adding new tower pieces.

Today there’s a little Miss Mackensen Easter special about historical views of the town of Klingenthal with its districts (Brunndöbra, Sachsenberg and Georgenthal) and the former border region. As it used to be today, the village Markhausen no longer exists Link to it ([Hraničná - Wikipedia](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hrani%C4%8Dn%C3%A1) ), the name changed to Hraničná after 1945. Only the neighboring municipality of Schwaderbach, now called Bublava, still exists Link: [Bublava - Wikipedia](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bublava).
started my collection in 2003 with this postcard, which has since grown.
The castle was demolished in the 1980s
because it was dilapidated (this was the official reason) it is a great loss for some residents.
