Well Steinway is still a dark creature at night but if I had to choose between this building and that one for a success story for this lighting company I’d choose the former.

Currently, 38 low-rise residential buildings with 209 units, along with parking lots, stand on the properties at 1754 Fulton St. and 53 Utica Ave. A vacant portion of the site is owned by the Department of Housing Preservation and Development.

Of the 2,035 units planned, between 337 and 505 would be affordable via Mandatory Inclusionary Housing, including 209 Section 8 units that would replace the existing housing. A 17-story building would be constructed on the HPD site, with 351 units, 100% of which would be income-restricted, according to filings.

BWH Group seeks rezoning in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn | Crain’s New York Business

The site of a Staples office supply store in Brooklyn could soon transform into a mixed-use development with almost 300 apartments, the latest of many new projects planned for the borough’s Bay Ridge neighborhood, records show.

Daniel Grinshteyn, managing principal at the Brooklyn-based real estate firm BWH Group, submitted an application with the Department of City Planning Monday to rezone a portion of Bay Ridge’s Fifth Avenue to allow for a new 11-story development with about 290 dwelling units.

If approved, the proposed project would span a total of about 233,000 square feet, including 220,000 square feet of residential space, 12,000 square feet of commercial space and 1,117 square feet of community space.

Bay Ridge has recently been a hotbed for development. At nearby 9201 Fourth Ave., for instance, the local real estate company Allied Properties is seeking its own rezoning of a roughly 79,000-square-foot lot to construct a 9-story building with retail space and 115 apartments, Crain’s reported in June. Across the street at 9201 Fifth Ave., the site of a former KFC restaurant is slated for demolition and poised for redevelopment, although for what exactly is unclear.
