A developer intends to build a residential project near the Empire State Building after placing the winning bid on the site at a bankruptcy auction earlier this year.
Lipa Engel recently filed plans with the city’s Department of Buildings for a multifamily building at 47 E. 30th St. at the corner of Park Avenue South. The development would span about 36,000 square feet and stand 21 stories and 215 feet tall with 54 residential units, at least some of which would be designated as low-income housing, the filing says.
Yes, So-IL (and coincidently) Sir David Chipperfield posted directly above both do super fine, elegant modernist Architecture. A quote from the above linked CITYREALTY article summed it up perfectly - “Known for a restrained aesthetic that resists trends and avoids imitation of historic styles” End Quote.
IMHO, That is high praise for any Architectural Firm..
The pro-traffic and pedestrian death NIMBYs are out in full-force protesting against the daylighting law that bans parking within a certain distance of crosswalks and intersections both citywide and in Staten Island.
I have an update on 660 Lexington Avenue:
The black protective curtain is currently being removed, and the roof is currently illuminated in white (it looks very nice). I couldn’t take any pictures, but the building looks good.
