I’d love to see it rendered in context with the rest of Billionaires Row. I’d like to see more 1000-footers around here to “raise the floor” from which the truly tall towers like CPT and Steinway are poking out. ---

Me too. Whenever there’s a new tower announced around that area I smile ear to ear 😂 But hey, that area has the potential to be NYC’s Dubai Marina cluster, full of supertalls everywhere you look. ---

Me three. As I said once in another thread, pre-war masonry buildings are as much a part of the city’s magic and romance as its soaring towers. At least to me. I’m sure the “bigger is better” crowd will disagree. ---

Could it be that history is repeating itself when it comes to historic buildings in New York? Someone once remarked that the New York skyline in the 1960s was a diverse assemblage of different styles. But many of these striking spires and rooftop structures have been demolished or concealed. Mostly, new glass boxes are still shooting up higher and higher, with no reference to their surroundings. I never went inside that hotel but I went to the diner a fair amount and of course walked by it thousands of times. Oh well - ---
