NEW YORK | 50 Hudson Yards (504-522 W 34th) | 1,011 FT | 58 FLOORS

Several shots in this forum show One Manhattan West slightly taller. There’s a good helicopter shot posted in October 2021 that shows this off well

Yes, it also depends on your location too. When you look at this image it looks like One and Two Manhattan West look like there the same height.

I think you could also compare it to 35 HY which is listed at 1,000/1,010 and it also appears shorter than 35

NY zoning diagrams are typically measured from AMSL measurements, that is where the 1011 figure comes from in the zoning diagrams for this building, the same as 30 Hudson Yards is measured as being 1297 feet from AMSL, but is measured as being 1270 feet because that is where the lowest street level entrance is. Zoning documents for 50 Hudson Yards place the sidewalk AMSL measurements on the main entrance and lowest street level entrance as being some 30 feet above sea level, so that is where the 981 feet is being taken from that the CTBUH lists as the height, the building is not a supertall. This measurement can be verified a number of ways, the most clear measurement being it’s lower height in relation to the last setback on 30 Hudson Yards and it’s visible lower height than One Manhattan West.

1,000 feet of mundane filler.

There will be about 20 more in this vicinity soon.

The tower exterior may be a bit of a snoozer, but that floating staircase is a work of art.

I know this building is not a favorite in this crowd, but now that the Spiral is completed on the outside, I like 50 much better. It is not a great building, but the section divisions and vertical features give it some classic lines that Spiral totally lacks. 50 is a bit boring, but it has some redeeming value.

I’m in the same boat. I thought the spiral was going to be my favorite but watching the two rise I started to prefer 50 Hudson. Only part of the building that disappoints me is what they did to the crown. The lobby is pretty spectacular.

Facebook Parent Meta, Amazon Pull Back on NYC Office Expansions

The company is also pausing plans to further build out its new offices in Hudson Yards as it evaluates what to do with the space, said the people, who asked not to be named discussing private information.

Meta spokesperson Jamila Reeves said the company remains firmly committed to New York and is looking forward to opening the Farley Building near Pennsylvania Station in the coming months.

They overextended themselves. Facebook is no longer on the up and up, their core product is dying, it would be a real stretch for them to ever fill these offices, to say nothing of the effects of hybrid work schedules

Things are shifting a bit for sure for all the tech houses. There isn’t any excitement for their vision for the world as a whole as they have largely achieved that vision. The culture of these companies has therefore become complacent over time as they have connected as many people as possible. Silicon Valley has lost a ton of its cachet, and there is a need for a new direction.
