Bro you’re literally nobody to me just like you are to him. I do not “hate” him nor you. I dislike the system which enables people like him to influence everything from elections to whether or not the average person has access to the right of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in this country.

Billionaires are the antithesis to that with the amount of power they hold. Money is what enables that power. He gets to stomp his feet and influence policy over the millions of people that reside here by whining. Stop being obtuse. The fact that you think I “hate” him simply because he has more money than me means everything from the media (propaganda) they control to the outsized influence they have over this “democracy” is working. But go off.

And no, by definition, billionaires are not “regular” people by any means. Whether it was by chance/luck or by skill, accumulating that much personal wealth is not “regular.” He does not view the world through our eyes. You and me have wayyyy more in common than either of us have with him. Let’s please stick to Earth 1.

And we all love buildings and architecture, but can we be honest and ask the question what kind of sick empty horror of a human spends $240,000,000 on a house?

Is calling successful rich people “sick empty horror” your cope with your miserable life?

I love how people who seldom post (and one joined just to comment) come out of the woodwork to defend a whiny billionaire just because the mayor made an insta post that just used him as an example of excess (and wasn’t even directed at him). It’s not like Mamdani will be mayor for life either. If he’s unpopular, he won’t get re-elected, and for better or for worse, the next mayor can just roll back his policy.

It’s great that he’s making billionaires pay their fair share, especially since we have a corrupt federal government that would rather give them endless tax breaks while everyone else has to foot the bill.

Once a week I come to catch up, and there I see 50 notifications in here ! only to find out that it’s you folx whining about Griffin and luxury apartments and tax, instead of some concrete content.

There is NO “fair share” - you are NOT entitled to someone else’s money let alone a higher percentage than any else’s, simply because that someone had success in making more money than you or anyone else for the matter.

Just how many lowkeylion proxy user ID’s do we have going here? If his behavior on SSP is any indication, there are at least 5 pretending to be different people, but doing strange things like pep rallying his previous comment or using multiple ID’s to pile on a person or topic to astroturf a perceived outrage or fringe opinion.

No. Is shilling for vapid multi-billionaires and oligarchy yours?

Better get rid of the progressive income tax. According to your standard it’s evil theft.

This conversation has probably run its course, but anyone interested St. Barts right across the street offers food assistance programs so that would fall into the category of putting our money, or at least our time, where the hungry mouths are: Faith in Action | St. Bart's

Has anyone been near 350 Park recently? I’m sure more scaffolding has gone up since the last update.

Legit question tho, is it even possible for Griffin to just, stop the project at this point? Or is it just an empty threat

I don’t understand the point of these recent posts. Inane political posts should not be allowed. All parties involved have confirmed there is no change to plans, so why don’t we talk about the upcoming building instead of political garbage?

Cities compete for mobile capital with limited tools. New York had Citadel already locked in a $6 billion project approved, under construction, and backed by an internal memo in April saying everything was moving forward. Today, that project is suddenly up for debate while the Miami office keeps expanding. The difference between those two outcomes fits inside an Instagram video.

Mamdani got his viral moment. The city he governs may have lost one of the biggest real estate and job investments of the year. The politician who built his image around stopping “extreme capital” ended up becoming the best ally for that capital’s move to South Florida.

There are no changes to plans at 350 Park. Nothing has changed. If you want to have a debate about taxation and pandemic era capital flows to tax avoidance jurisdictions, fine, but this doesn’t seem to be the venue.

Just FYI, the project is not “up for debate”. Citadel is not going anywhere or downsizing, even if they wanted to.
