No signs of imminent demo at either building as yet. Shame they couldn’t preserve some of the Art Deco façade on the lowest floors.
Already some activity on site, wasn’t expecting it just yet! Nice update and happy birthday ![]()
Thanks. It’s not my birthday though. Rather, it’s the anniversary of when I joined yimby - 10 years ago! Didn’t even realize until I checked so thanks!
Think the design is excellent not sure why the hate. Look around the city at the office towers being built, literally a glass box going up across the street at 343, this is a legitimately interesting dynamic design think it will be a great addition to the skyline. The crown especially is awesome hopefully us plebians can get up there someday!!
Making a comment about hate to this project and then literally hating on a building adjacent to it makes no sense. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, one isn’t required to need to understand other’s opinions.
Same case with 350 Park, that is an actual only glass building, 343 isnt just glass, thats just what you want to perceive it as being.
Fun detail to see my 270 Park rendering used in the background of this official image!
(Note the lighting textures and the position of One Vanderbilt’s reflection)So they can just lift it like that with no credit or compensation?
I assume it must fall under some kind of de minimis to use it as a background asset, as rendering studios seem to use each other’s renderings to fill up missing buildings in backgrounds pretty often (e.g. the DBOX 270 park edited into the background of the official 2WTC night rendering).
It’s no worries from me personally in this case, since I make these renderings for fun and for other skyscraper fans’ information, so it’s just cool to see it out there!
rip another gorgeous bldg
