But no worries, you are correct that the 1050’ max envelope is measured from street level as is the instance with all buildings, but these drawings look the same as the initially filed ones, I don’t see any differences between the initially publicly available drawings and what has been shared. I can’t opine on anything more than that though since these are not really the updated filing documents (that I can tell anyways, though I am completely aware of the need for this modification).
It’s safe to assume the ~844’ figure from the wind tunnel analysis is still the most accurate figure, since all external sources tend to quote it.
Has anyone made a model of 343 and 346 together? I know the individual designs are fairly divisive, but I think taken together, they should be quite a sight to behold.
Maybe @TKDV can shed some light, but I believe it’s because construction on the MTA entrance started before the tower landed a tenant. Based on these latest photos, though, it looks like rebar is on site for substructure and piles are being driven for the foundation?
Just to clarify (since I’m rereading my post and it didn’t make sense) the rock anchors and caissons here are functioning in different capacities, it’s not an either/or scenario for them.
What is visible in the previous photo JC_Heights posted that appears like rebar (black rods with little metal peices attached) are the rock tie down anchors before they were placed into their sockets, they’ve already been inserted since the photo was taken.
JRF mentioned there were no piles, but there are caissons (though the terms are frequently interchanged, they are different things). The tall rig in the background of the photo is a caisson drill, though the holes are not visible in the photo, they too have already been filled/built as of recently.
