this one looks just okay. I’ll take the height and bulk for the area but it’s kind of a snoozer all things considered

Unfortunately, necessary changes had to be made that removed a functional architectural element that used to be on the east side.

But Yale is a landmarked building so the southern half of the core will always be visible, it’s just the adjacent Brause building that isn’t, so somthing “could” potentially be built there, but the lot is relatively small, so something redeveloped on that lot would never really cover its half of the core wall.

The other side isn’t exactly winning any beauty pageants either in my opinion. But this is indeed awful.

Work on the MTA entrance, not sure if anything new on site is for the tower getting going.

Everything you see on site right now (any activity) is only related to the MTA entrance.

It’s a big Ole “Meh” for me on this one

Yeah, disappointing, especially for “the best site in Manhattan”

Any chance this could change/grow back to where it was?

Maybe I’m in the minority here but I’m quite fond of this design. Gives me a real quality-over-quantity vibe. Besides, it’s important to build towers that don’t push the height ceiling to give the true supertalls room to stand tall (think 175 and 350 Park in the coming years!)

I just want to point out to everyone that this tower was never at any point 1050’ tall, that was only ever the maximum envelope height, not the physical height. People tend to equate the maximum envelope height with the physical height when that is almost never the case. The most well known case of this was 175 Park Avenues 1646’ height, which was reflecting the max envelope height, the building was always designed to be 1575’.

This tower in its current form is the tallest it’s ever been.

That blank wall is such a shame. The fact that it juts out so conspicuously (and incongruously) makes it even worse.

The rest of the building is a yawn – or “meh” as @TK2000 puts it – however nice the curtain wall ends up being.

It’s a very well done design.

The most exciting thing about this tower is the MTA entrance at the bottom of it.

The core looks awkward with the overall massing but I dig the yellow.

Its a rectangle lol. If the glass is great, then maybe itll redeem the tower. But otherwise, I see nothing noteworthy or interesting really. Its not tall -nor uniquely shaped- enough to make any discernable impact on the Skyline.

yeah, it’s filler. but it seems like one of our own is working on it so that’s pretty cool!
