According to the below, the cladding on the columns is a copper-nickel alloy. I would imagine this is costly compared to other materials, otherwise we would see more widespread use of bronze
due to the beautiful hue and superior corrosion resistance. The entrance canopies on 270 are especially eye catching.
I would like to make one correction to that above article. Copper-nickel alloy is Brass. Copper-tin alloy is Bronze.
I still cant believe how bright it is! Like… what other building in NYC comes even close to using as many lights? I’d say 111W57, but…
I hope 175 park and the citadel building have lighting like this as well
I think the renderings for 175 show the crown lit up kinda like the Chrysler building. lets pray it actually goes through
I expect Jamie Dimon’s face to be displayed on that giant LED crown.
Looks like the East River facing side is almost fully lit too. Once it gets darker out it’ll be easier to see and will update this post accordingly.
It’s pretty well-lit.
Even the Hudson River-facing side is almost fully lit.
Oh this is gonna be good
Is this going to be one of the first skyscrapers with dynamic LED lighting in the NYC/US?
The only other one i can think of is Salesforce Tower in SF. (One Vanderbilt and Empire State are pretty static in comparison.)
