NEW YORK | 200 Greenwich St (2WTC) | 1,226 FT | 55 FLOORS

I hate to be that person, but did you realize these new renderings you made feature the previous 5 WTC design?

The highest occupiable floor ties with T3’s, at ~1020’.

Where’d you find that? Not doubting you, just curious.

Both the diagram a few posts above as well as those renders confirm it

This looks excellent from all angles. Really fills that hole in the skyline.

Would be the 3rd tallest to roof in Hong Kong.

Taller than any building in Europe.

Nearly 200 feet taller and 600,000 SQ feet larger than Salesforce Tower in San Fran.

Taller than every building in America outside of NYC and Chicago (where it would rank 3rd tallest behind Sears and Trump)

Will be a great day when this BEAST is completed.

I felt a great disturbance in the Force. As if million of replies were posted, then suddenly silenced by @TKDV

I guess I’m glad to see this hole finally be filled (so to speak), but I don’t find this design pleasing to the eye at all. I wouldn’t mind if it were somewhere else, but here? The site deserved much better, in my opinion. Plus I’ll miss the view of WTC1 from Brooklyn. Oh well!

I’m glad we finally came to the day that 2WTC became a reality (okay, okay it’s not build yet). It just as well could\ve turned out worse, like another big economic collapse postponing it for another 10 years…Ending up in canceling it all the way and replacing it with some utitly build or sculpture…

For now I’m waiting for pictures were we see the fences removed, hope to see a lot of the progress her on the forums and when the tower is done I might make a trip across the pond to see it with my own eyes.

But I think we will keep this mixed feelings about not getting the diamond design far into construction. In my opinion that is still the best answer to this complex…

Maybe they’re still working on the final design, let’s hope it won’t get more value engineering…

 huh

I dont think @ThreeWentDown has much to go off of besides the acrylic model, which isnt that helpful but if only for the massing.

So true @HerrDavid ! The way Fulton, Nevins, Bond, Atlantic and the rest are trending, it won’t be long before the only view to be had is of downtown Brooklyn.

Just to be safe, I can’t guarantee my renders’ exact accuracy in terms of height because I could only estimate the dimensions based on the one TMRW rendering of the full tower, but that does seem to be about right. Judging by the daytime rendering of the crown from the press release, it might even be slightly lower.

Yeah, I plan to update my model when we get more details

I find it odd Foster himself calls this specifically the American Express tower. Obviously we know it’s because they’re the anchor tenant, but does he himself not like the design to the point where he’s not calling it 2 World Trade Center? I found an article from the 90’s stating that Helmut Jahn was factually disappointed with the final design of 2 Liberty Place. And that changed because of the many requests of the anchor tenant, Cigna. Sound familiar?

I’m guessing it’s part of the deal that everybody will call it the AmEx tower.

I won’t be surprised if he hates it lol. Yet the comment was made for the AmEx presser, so that wording is to be expected.

It remains 2 World Trade Center/200 Greenwich just as the ā€œJP Morgan Towerā€ is 270 Park Avenue.

I originally got into construction/architecture so long ago because of the WTC and everything happening here. I’ve kind of checked out in recent years but have always checked here occasionally to see if there were any updates on this building. It feels incredible to see that day has finally come! Cannot wait for this to start construction and to track progress with you all

Thanks for the great work as always!

Like many here, I’m fairly mixed on the design, but ultimately relieved the thing is finally moving forward.

I’m struggling to put my finger on what exactly bugs me about the crown/setbacks. I think it’s that the peak is on the ā€œinsideā€ of the spiral, rather than on the ā€œoutsideā€?

As a thought experiment, I would love to know what it would look like if the crown were rotated 90 degrees — with the highest tier in the Northwest corner, then descending to Northeast > Southeast > Southwest. My gut says that would create a more pleasing eye line between Tower 3, Tower 2 and the Tower 1 spire. It would also orient the roof terraces so that they’re facing the memorial.

The massing, terraces, fins, etc. are reminiscent of Gropius’s proposal for the Chicago Tribune:

I just realized this building is basically a knock off version of Tianfu center under construction in Chengdu (except the Chinese version is 1604 feet tall) ironic

Wow and it’s done by KPF. Looks less awkward to be honest and more graceful.

F+P are phoning it in these days, common knowledge.
