MIAMI | 1 Southside Park | 780 FT | 60 FLOORS

The Brickell twin-tower megaproject known as 1 Southside Park is now going through the approval process with Miami-Dade County after it was submitted over the summer.

Brooklyn’s Shop Architects is designing the project. Shop is also the architect for the Miami Innovation District.

1 Southside Park will include two 60-story towers rising 780 feet, along with a rebuild of both a Fire Station on the site and Southside Park.

The project will include:

  • 32,000 square feet of governmental uses: the new City Fire House No. 4.
  • A “world class hotel” with 200 rooms, with accompanying amenity spaces.
  • 200,000 square feet of office space
  • 11,000 square feet of commercial / food and beverage spaces
  • 1,175 residential units
  • 100,000 square feet of health and wellness uses
  • Up to 1,000 parking spaces

James Corner Field Operations of New York will design landscape for both the project itself and the rebuild of Southside Park.

I absolutely love Miami, but with limited exceptions, its new towers absolutely suck. This proposal looks ridiculous.

Then again, who needs nice new buildings when you have this?
