This isn’t a political issue that’s delaying the project. It’s also not the Planning Board. The developer added 20 more stories to this building and making interior changes to the top floors. I can’t specify any details but there is active discussion on how they can move forward with construction code wise. ---

Additional concrete formwork has been installed since the previous site visit. Construction progress appears to be proceeding at a slower pace than anticipated. Work related to the structural column enlargement (jacketing) program for the proposed vertical expansion of the building is ongoing. Based on observations, foundation elements and numerous existing columns have been reinforced through widening/jacketing operations. A circular column located at a corner of the third floor was observed to have a smaller cross-sectional dimension than the columns directly above. This condition appears atypical relative to the surrounding structural modifications. The observed phasing of the work is not entirely clear, and it is possible that additional jacketing or enlargement of this column is planned as part of a subsequent construction phase. I heard a rumor that it’s all union workers now, which leads me to believe the “one floor per week” timeline they had going for a while is completely unattainable now. ---

I believe they were poured before they applied for a height increase. Not an engineer but I believe the building has been re-enforced elsewhere so may not be immediately visible ---
