They are digging for real now. And rebar is on site…does anyone know what it would be used for at this stage?

Should be for the foundation when it is eventually poured. May also be used for foundational retaining walls. Also could just be site storage for the future, but my bet is on foundation.

It does seem to be for the foundation. Building permit issued today. This one is moving relatively fast from demolition to excavation to construction.

Not sure if I’ve seen this type of foundation before on a skyscraper in Jersey City.
It took less than a month from demolition to first foundation columns. Meanwhile 501 Summit Ave broke ground more than half a year ago and still doesn’t have any foundation or footings installed…
