It’s been incredible watching this tower rise (esp after that long hiatus), as it reminds me of when the Burj Dubai / Khalifa was built (Does anyone else still refer to it as Burj Dubai even after the name change? 
) and how an entire city rose along with its own rise in roughly a decade!
While it’s amazing seeing this hit 100+ floors, the surrounding area isn’t nearly as built-up as Dubai had been at the time when looking at the pics @Whathewhy shared 
Will Jeddah see a boom like Dubai did, or will the area fizzle out like Neom City? While I hope Jeddah Tower will be fully built, it doesn’t look (from afar, at least) that there’s a huge demand for massive developments as every other building there looks to be a couple floors at most 
Even the surrounding developments immediately around Jeddah Tower seem to be stuck at the basement levels (or just going up really slowly), but I’m curious to see how things may look in another 5-10 years! Maybe it will be like a “mini-Dubai” by then, but (so far) it looks like it’ll be the one sole super/megatall in the area for decades to come

Is there are masterplan for the area I can look at? Surely they don’t plan to finally finish the world’s tallest building and just leave it in the middle of nowhere

This is the original from when they initially started construction. Do you know if they’ve restarted construction on everything or just Jeddah Tower? Because while I’m all for building the world’s tallest building, this will still fail if there’s nothing around it.

Last I checked via SSC, it was just the areas surrounding the Jeddah Tower. I didn’t hear any news regarding the surrounding buildings that is part of the masterplan. Hopefully they can start it before Jeddah Tower is completed
