I’m all for this project, but I find some of the decisions behind it pretty confusing. What needs is there for a Hesperia station _and_ a Victorville station? Why connect to Rancho Cucamonga _and_ Palmdale? Especially considering how flat and straight the ROW to Palmdale is, and that Palmdale will connect with the CA HSR network, facilitating one-seat rides to LA Union that Rancho Cucamonga never will? If you’re going to tackle the immense technical challenge of getting over the Cajon Pass, why wouldn’t you extend a few more miles West along the relatively flat and straight Metrolink corridor to Montclair/Clairmont/Pomona to link to the LA Metro A Line? Or south ~2 miles to the Amtrak ROW to connect to the future LA-IE-SD section of CA HSR? ---
