At YIMBY, low-rises are considered buildings of less then 10 stories (100 feet). Projects of 10 or more stories (100+ feet) are deserving of their own thread in the appropriate category. Significant projects of less than 10 stories (100 feet) are eligible to an individual thread. Renovations in Austin can also be discussed in this topic.

The project’s ambitious height and square footage will require Pearlstone to go through the city’s downtown density bonus program. In an interview with the Austin Business Journal last year, Pearlstone CEO Robert Lee said he envisions a high density Austin, reminiscent of New York City.
Confronted with an ongoing housing crisis, Austin has recently moved to [ease the height](https://therealdeal.com/texas/2022/06/14/austin-inches-closer-to-allowing-more-density-along-major-streets/) restrictions that have limited higher density housing in many parts of the city for decades.

This is currently the only supertall under construction and Wilson Tower is the next largest skyscraper in Taxas construction starts mid 2023.
